Our Story

In 2012, our co-founders Randall Makin and Wayne Gerard were working as engineers on a mining site in Queensland, Australia. They faced a problem that frustrates engineers around the globe: they couldn’t find or verify the correct data to complete work.

This spark ignited their journey towards the world’s first purpose-built engineering drawing management Software-as-a-Service for asset Operations & Maintenance.

Their vision was to reinvent the way people work. By making the world’s engineering data more available, usable, and valuable, RedEye Apps are revolutionising the way we operate and maintain critical infrastructure assets.

Co-Founders Wayne Gerard and Randall Makin develop the first cloud-based drawing management system purpose-built for asset Operations & Maintenance (O&M) with first client, BHP Billiton.

RedEye has given our business the opportunity and support to take control of our drawings, reducing costs and enabling retention of our intellectual property. The quality in the system has increased the safety of our workers by ensuring the latest drawing is always available.

RedEye goes live with Alacer Gold in remote Turkey, and iconic Australian energy generator, Snowy Hydro. Raised “Series A” funding with Macquarie Capital, the world’s largest asset owner. Revenue doubles and the team grows to 23 people.

RedEye came along at just the right time… One of the biggest problems RedEye solves is a single point of truth, with other systems you often send your information out, as soon as that information is sent out its uncontrolled and it opens you up to financial and safety risks. With RedEyeDMS you have the advantage of inviting people in to access that information there rather than giving them potentially old information. When you’ve got access to the latest information you’re more informed you can make better decisions and you’re less likely to get hurt.”
