5 things to look forward to at Distributech 2019

5 things to look forward to at Distributech 2019

Designed to showcase innovation in power and renewable energy, Distributech offers 3 days’ worth of speeches, conferences, courses and networking opportunities with thousands of industry experts and thought leaders.

We are extremely excited to be there to see advancements in the power industry, specifically in digital engineering, so we’d thought we’d share our top five aspects of Distributech 2019 we are most looking forward to.

  1. Disruptive, emerging, and innovative technologies

This year will be an exciting year for technologies in the power industry. We’re glad that Distributech is at the start of the year as we discover all the new and cool technologies penetrating the market and follow them as they grow and develop. Mobility will be a huge focal feature of technologies in 2019 and, with such a large sample size of industry specific technologies, RedEye will be able to set a benchmark against world leaders to reach and open the ideas for new possibilities onto how to improve. On top of this, we are hoping that this massive event will help us to find new ways to remove the hurdles towards collaboration.

  1. The future of energy

The rise of Distributed Energy Resources (DER) is set to change the infrastructure management industry. How will it evolve? For the last decade there has been a push for renewable energy. Now we are in full effect and we are intrigued to see how the drive to renewables will impact costs in maintenance and operations, specifically in asset lifecycle management.

  1. Cybersecurity

Cybersecurity grows more and more important as technologies start implementing cloud infrastructure solutions and IoT in power management. We are expecting that many of the speakers and booths are dedicated to cybersecurity, as well as many other discussing it. It will be interesting to see how companies are protecting against soft terror attacks that involve infrastructure shutdowns or overloads and learn new ways to further protect our clients from potential attacks.

  1. Initiate!

Initiate! is a hub dedicated entirely to new start-ups that are developing products and services that benefit the industry. The GEARED students and young talent lounge will also be in this area, hosting poster sessions as well as showcasing the future of Distributech. RedEye was a start-up once and we wish we’d had this kind of support, so we are very excited to see the innovative solutions that start-ups provide.

  1. Networking in New Orleans

By far the most excited aspect of Distributech! With such cool and interesting companies and keynote speakers attending, such as Paul D. Hinnenkamp, Executive Vice President & COO of Entergy, we are sure to gain valuable knowledge and insights.

The Knowledge Hub offers an additional space to network, where we will explore how data analytics are being applied to advanced metering infrastructure, distribution automation, asset management, cybersecurity and more in order to improve utility operations. And what better place to network than beautiful New Orleans?

As RedEye grows internationally, we’re excited to take part in more trade shows and events in North America. If you are attending Distributech, don’t forget to drop into our booth #613, say hi and find out more about RedEye.
